The Who!... Done By The Strangers...
Hi Guys... ya know, I'll admit I'm not the best bass player ever, but I've had a blast playing with Rock, Blues bands here on Oahu, and throughout the Hawaiian Islands over the past thirty years... No matter your level of skill, if you have a video that you want to share, that shows your passion for playing, Please!- post it up! Here's my submission; my former rock band, "The Strangers", doing a couple of Who songs... I'll admit, I'm no John Entwhistle, but The Who is my fave band of all-time, and John is my fave bass player... I did my best on these songs... so please list what you want, and here's my video...

The Who done on an ATK300. Nice!
You guys sound huge, just as a Who cover band should.
Great job.
I'm curious: what's the Hawaiian music scene like out there, or specifically for the type of stuff you guys play? I've been to the islands a few times, but it seemed like the majority of the music to be found was more traditional, indigenous Hawaiian music. (Maybe I need to get off the resorts).
P.S. my heart and prayers go out to those who were impacted by the fire in Maui.

When I first clicked on the link, I expected a Hawaiian mod band for some reason. Either way, you guys rock hard! I particularly liked the aggression on Fooled.

Re: The Who!... Done By The Strangers...
PJ - I had just bought that ATK 300, and felt like it would be a great bass to play for this gig, even though I'm a 5-string guy. I eventually sold this bass to a fellow forum bassist in Florida... and don't you know, I found another one through Facebook Marketplace about a year ago. My band mates love the tone, but I don't play it much. I have to replace the volume pot... can't find the original, but I bought a pot very close to the original... just have to find time to delicately remove/and/replace the pot with the new pot I ordered... will let you know how it works out, once replaced...pjmuck wrote:The Who done on an ATK300. As far as the music scene is out here, and especially post-Covid... you'd be surprised at how much music is to be found here! Yes, typical Hawaiian/Jawaiian music, which is what tourists expect to hear... but, you can find Blues, Rock, Pop, etc... and, you'd be surprised at just how much Metal/Punk Rock is here as well! The amount of talent, and bands here, is astounding! I know several hundred-or-more musicians, in all genres... and yet, I feel like I only know maybe 20% of the musicians/bands on the Island of Oahu!
and PJ... thanks for the Prayers for the tragedy that has devastated Lahaina, Maui... I've played there in years past; it was a beautiful, historic town, loved the buildings, and relaxed vibes... if anyone wants to contribute to Lahaina relief efforts, just look online; Salvation Army , Red Cross etc...

Thanks! I love this song, and the breaks, especially at the end, and the chords that lead up to... Rock On!Agent00Soul wrote:When I first clicked on the link, I expected a Hawaiian mod band for some reason. Either way, you guys rock hard! I particularly liked the aggression on Fooled.

Hey Guys, I appreciate the Love, and all of your positive posts! Myself, and The Strangers, worked hard to capture as much of The Who "essence" as we could... wish this band was still together...
