Octave Pedal?

Post by ch willie »

I'm looking for an octave pedal that'll go up and down at least 1 octave either way. Not interested in pedals like the Sub n Up that uses downloadable patches. It can be digital, but I don't want to have to download jack. I want a simple pedal.

What are you guys using that you could recommend?

The Boss OC-5 is easy to use and flexible, and sounds plenty good for my purposes. I unloaded an MXR and two different versions of the Octabvre in favor of it. And it's inexpensive, so it's definitely worth considering.

I use the octave up (plus distortion) for the opening riff on For Whom the Bell Tolls and the octave down for the opening riff of Sweet Emotion.

Ironically it's the only thing on my pedalboard right now that isn't a preamp (I've been auditioning preamps like crazy lately).

I just bought a sub & up. You don’t have to download anything and it sounds killer.

Well I’m a big dummy for getting that wrong. Glad to find out the truth on that one.

The Toneprint app isn’t required, it’s just an option to get different sounds. I may play around with mine, but I like the stock sound.

I bought a Sub n Up, but I don't like it much. I'm returning it to Sweetwater. It had latency issues, didn't work with a battery, and just generally sucked tone. I wanted to like it, and maybe I just got a bad one. Yes, I tweaked eq and tried my best to dial in a great sound. Years ago, I had a cheap one, no brand, just kicked butt and tore up soon. I tried it with both guitar and bass.
