72 Jass 3TSB Maple neck Black Block - Reverb

Post by crescenze »

Not much info. Don't see too many of these. Looks good if the pots, pickups and serial# are correct and everything works as it should (a lot of if's) Just needs to swap out the replacement tuners and bridge and add thumb rest and ash trays. Even has the OHS case in good condition (another if)

If this is a real maple cap neck with black block inlays then only the neck is this money worth
I would buy it and replace the tuners
I have the same bass but with skunkstripe neck, great instrument

Good point on the neck. I missed that.

Agreed. My '72 also has a skunk stripe. I think this bass warrant further info/photo, particularly the neck heel, pots, etc.

Absolutely Pjmuck
If I would live in the US I would ask for more info and some disassembled pictures, unfortunately I am in Europe
Begin of the 70s Fender still had old 60s stock and assembled it so it could be a real 1968 maple cap neck with black block inlays. it would be the second maple cap one in lefty I saw in my hole life
Whoever buys it, please post some information here ...

Someone cleaned up that neck for their new sale posting.

Same seller? Or quick flipper?

It's only $7500, but yes, you guessed it, there's a catch. You'll have to wait until May before he ships it.

Quick flipper. Very quick! Better pictures and the tuners are a plus. Seems a bit high now though, even considering the rarity of the neck. Other stuff the seller has listed is pretty pricey. Hang tags for example. It will be interesting to see how the sale goes.

That’s a shame that a shop bought it just to make quick money.
I hoped some player saw the rarity and made a great deal:-/
Now it’s 3 times the price, just ridiculous, nobody will pay that

It's that Italian shop....

I am calling it a shop, but it's more of a collecter flexing his collection and once in a blue moon wheel in some clueless person, gouging him for every cent.

And yah, I had 'dealings' with the shop before, let's just say that his tablemanners are not refined in any way.

It's not that Italian shop/ guy. I know who you're talking about his prices are out there for sure. Both the new seller and the first shop are located in NY. That's how there was such a quick sale and turnaround.

I stand corrected, sorry - Reverb was suggesting I had a look at a similar one 'The italian guy' had listed and I started froathing and hearing the theme from Jaws.

Yeah, this seller is in New York, and based on their Reverb sales, sells A LOT of parts.

I'm guessing if this bass doesn't sell as a high enough price, it'll be parted out.

The reseller now dropped the price
Still he has not realized that this is not only a black block inlay but also a maple cap neck which is super rare assembled still on a 72 bass
For US buyers this could be now interesting
