WTB: Lefty Squier Jazzmaster

Post by WestBerliner »

Hey Lefty team!

Looking for a lefty squier jazzmaster! I missed my chance when i saw one locally last year, and have been looking since.
is anyone looking to let go of theirs? whether fully stock or with upgraded pickups/pickguards/etc, show me what you have!

I am located in Canada so we'd have to see what shipping is like from where you are..

Thanks!

I had no idea that Squier made lefty Jazzmasters but I looked it up and they sure did.

Did, yes. There was a Classic Vibe model for a while but it was discontinued much too soon. I would love one myself! I have an American Professional II Jazzmaster but would love to have the Squier as a platform for modding.

It looks like there's a few up from Squier and other brands just by Googling

squier jazzmaster left handed

I didn't click on any of them so those listings might be out of date.

I've seen the same sorts of vintage instruments at prices like that for years and years on Reverb. They never seem to sell very much. I'm assuming because the people who are actually serious about moving these pieces are charging significantly less?

Exactly - and yet these sellers just keep the ads up without making them more sellable. I guess they are waiting for a unicorn.

And to think that these guitars were once dirt cheap because nobody wanted them...! The grunge and indierock guys only started playing offsets because they were available for little money, and because they were easy to mod. Bands like Nirvana, Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr (and, unrelated, Elvis Costello!) caused them to take off, and what got them back into production (the Jazzmaster was originally in production from 1958-1980), with Japanese reissues coming up from about 1986 but it would take until 1999 for the first American reissues to come out. And it wasn't until 2017 when the Jazzmaster became a 'regular' US production model again as part of the American Professional series.

Mine is a 2023 American Professional II (and the Jag is a 2020 Mod Shop).

I bought a 1964 lefty Jaguar in early autumn 1991, about a month before Nevermind came out. Pure luck. If it was just a few months later, the price would have skyrocketed to Cobain la la land and I never could have afforded it. I still have it.

My first guitar was a 1968 Jazzmaster which has a bonkers finish. That's probably why no one wanted it in 1984 - it was the age of neon and shred. I've had it since I was a teenager.
