What a beautiful piece of art that is, Mark.
Love the translucent blue finish.
I saw Michael League of Snarky Puppy playing in Rotterdam a while ago and he has a BN in the same color with a maple neck.
When do you expect to receive the bass?

Weight is such a subjective thing... the two lightest basses I've ever owned were two of my best sounding basses to my ears... 8.25 and 8.5 lbs respectively.

The heaviest bass I ever owned sounded like dogshit... and almost every other bass I've owned and has been in the 9-9.5 lb range or so. Some have been amazing and some haven't been that great, even though they weighed the same.

I'm not at all denying that weight might be a contributing factor to tone, but I don't think there's any evidence to support that heavier basses are more likely to sound better than lighter basses or vise-versa.

There are good sounding heavy basses and crappy sounding ones... good sounding light basses and crappy sounding ones.

Even if "good tone" wasn't such a personal thing, I think it's affected by a ton of different factors, with overall weight being toward the bottom of the list.

@LeftyClover: thanks for the comments Ken. I'm just in the process of gathering funds to finish paying for it. Probably 3 to 4 weeks including shipping time before I see it. Thankfully it's not crossing any international borders.

Thanks Brian. Of course, it shipped today, it's scheduled for delivery on Friday, and I won't be here because we're going on a road trip to the West Coast of Vancouver Island and won't be back until the end of the day Friday. Aaaaarrrggghhh!!! That means I have to wait until Monday... double aaarrrrgggghhh! :/

Hi guys, got my new F Bass BNF-5 this evening. Stunning bass but waiting to see it in the light of day for the full effect. Also need to do a slight truss rod adjustment after shipping across the country during this cold snap. Will tackle that tomorrow. Gonna take a while to get used to playing without lines again. :) The woodshed is calling.
