1981 G&L L2000E Needs a Little TLC

While I wait for delivery of the 81 L2K, I'm starting a thread on it because I plan to do a little work on it to return it to as close to original as possible. Looking at the pics from the music store, it looks like it has the slotted pole pieces and it certainly has chrome bridge and control plate, which would date it as 1981. I plan to remove the pickguard to see if it looks ok underneath. Hopefully it will. Pics from the store:

All right so I got the bass. Sounds absolutely fantastic! Electronics work as they should. Many usable tones.
I took off the pickguard. Not sure if I like it this way due to holes and staining. in a couple of places a bit of the finish came off. Might put it back on - it's been there a long time and it's part of the history of the bass. Need to make battery box cover.

Also, I think the fingerboard is ebony tho it was listed as rosewood. Pretty sure its an 81. My L1k fretless had a serial of 47 hundred and this one is 48 hundred.
