NAMM 2020
Re: NAMM 2020
I’ve never even been to NAMM in Nashville and it’s in my back yard. I should look into how to get in already.

Well that's...different. Some interesting design elements there, like a floating rosewood bridge, those string through buttons/tubes?, and that reverse Strat jack plug.
Re: NAMM 2020
Interesting. Kinda funny how much the emphasize "4 strings" in their description:
Stonefield offers a range of 4-string bass guitars in our F Series, G Series, M Series, and C Series.
The F Series 4-string electric bass guitar is our production model instrument. Enjoy superb looks, neutral balance, and high performance - at a price to suit your budget. Next up, the G Series bass is a step up from the F Series, with the Tomm Stanley™ Tuning System, floating wooden bridge and passive electronics all included as standard features.
The M series model started out as the ‘original’ Stonefield bass and is our highest spec’d instrument to date. Handmade to order, each M Series 4-string bass guitar delivers an unrivalled playing experience. The C Series is a paired-down version of the M Series with all the essential elements of a Stonefield bass. Whether you’re a professional player or simply love to play bass, find the 4-string bass guitar you've been searching for.

Re: NAMM 2020
Tuning machines are even wackier than the jacks.
Re: NAMM 2020
I kinda like it, but I don't like how high the strings pass over the body and how far those pickups stick out. I appreciate when something stops me from digging in too deep, especially when I slap. The jack is interesting, but positioning it between the pots looks weird.

I was confused. I was looking at the headstock clamps on a bridge-tuning model. I dig the headless-but-with-a-headstock configuration.
But yeah, I'm liking that jack less and less the more I look at it.

Hey Peter,
I am here, but for work. I’ll let Marc post about NAMM, he has a much better
perspective of the show than I do.

I'm wondering if the Sandberg Lionel will be offered left-handed. Probably not, I assume.

Re: NAMM 2020
Lot of lefty Rics at NAMM including my elusive dream bass 4003sw.
There's never been a better time to buy a Ric than now imo. It's craziness I think I counted 60 for sale on Reverb.

I find that green one a whole lot prettier, though

Matt, I do believe Summer NAMM is open to the public, unlike winter NAMM. Summer NAMM seems to be much more guitar-centric as opposed to the overwhelming information overload that is NAMM in Anaheim.
Re: NAMM 2020
I have long ago given up the hunt for the microscopic amounts of lefty guitars and basses at NAMM
. I do, however, go to insane lengths to plan/map out new products and artist demonstrations. then tear up the game plan by the end of the 1st day because of getting way-laid by 1) cool stuff we stumble across 2) folks/friends/artists we run into and 3) sore feet!
I'm also a synth junkie and spent a lot of time in the Korg booth playing with the ARP 2600 re-issue. And at Novation with the Summit. And at ASM with the Hydrasynth. Spent a couple of hours one morning in the Gibson acoustic room and had the wife try out various SJ-200's (they have some cool new models!), Hummingbirds, Doves and the Cheryl Crow sig model. I got my hands on the lone lefty SJ-200
. Gotta get there early to avoid the cacophony lol. I'm SO glad Henry J. is out of the picture at Gibson, it is truly a breath of fresh air dealing with them now.
Also spent a fair amount of time in the Pro Audio section checking out the gear as I want to simultaneously upgrade and downsize my P.A.
Artist-wise it was a bit thin for us this year. Didn't really run into anyone I recognized, though my drummer buddy who did attend on Saturday ran into a ton of artists, none of whom I recognized lol.
I did very much like the new bass amp by Traynor: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10218740485877554&set=a.1950054545337&type=3&theater
And then there was this, probably my favorite drum booth at the show: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10218756536798817&set=a.10203502153368765&type=3&theater

Is that the YBA-100? (No facebook at work)
My shameless tube amp flipping came to an immediate halt when I got my YBA-200. The 100 is missing the range and resonance controls, though, which I actually use a lot. On the other hand, only 22 pounds! But I also have an Ashdown Little Stubby for quieter stuff.
Yet still........
