I had a chance to play this bass while it was here at Guitar House of Tulsa. It's a decent bass but i didn't trust the weird headstock decals either. Now it's $9,000?

This thread is killing me. I have yet to do anything about it, and I might lose the opportunity if I wait too long, but alas, it's killing me.

A follow-up on this post...I was interested in the Lakin bass but felt something wasn't right, so I Googled 'lefty Lakin bass' and found that a guy in Illinois had one just like it that had been stolen. So I found him on FB and messaged him...it WAS his and I believe he got his bass back!

I have that exact same bass and it is my #1 out of 12 basses. Have you ever tried wiring the pickups in 'series'? Sounds great, like a beefier Jazz...somewhere between J & P.

FYI, I called about this bass a week or two ago...it had major issues!

I guess they lost the pickguard?

Notice it's not available any more...and it's in Tulsa. And I'm in Tulsa.

You bought, then returned it? I see it's on GC's site again.

I looked at this bass yesterday. It's beautiful, but the strings were grounding out up high on the neck. Might need just a truss rod tweak, or a complete fret job. Too big a gamble for me.

That's here in Tulsa, I know the guy that did the setup on it. Probably plays amazingly well. Owner offered it to me for $600...I declined because...Bongo.

I never want to hear the description, "whittled" when I'm considering buying a bass.

$849.99 for an American Pro! I called about it, looks like there is wear on the top-side where someone has whittled away on it, wearing long sleeves or something.
