Re: Here It Is: Fender Mustang Bass

Looks like a good deal if it's your holy grail bass. I have no idea how much those things normally fetch, though. It will be interesting to see how the bidding goes, as you mentioned. I put it on my watch list just for kicks (not to steal it from you).

Alembic in Bay Area Craigslist

http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/msg/4815392893.html

The body shape doesn't do it for me, but in case anyone is interested I thought I would post it here.

It looks to be highly customized, too. Not sure if that's for better or for worse when it comes to value — resale or otherwise.

Re: New DIY Custom Jazz

I've got some progress pics today, after some clear-coating last night and tonight. These are essentially just duplicate photos, but presented without flash, and then with flash:

That seller certainly has an (apparent) affinity for classic lefty basses. Sweet collection indeed!

Re: New DIY Custom Jazz

Here she is after a significant sanding last night, in preparation for the clear coats. There are a couple spots that I need to touch-up before I can start with the clear.

Re: New DIY Custom Jazz

Looking good Brett, I had been wondering about the progress on this project for a while now.

Luthier's cornner is my favorite forum on TB these days and there a many good guys and gals building beautiful basses over there to be sure.

I also notice you're using ReRanch products so I assume that ...

I haven't updated in approximately forever, but I have been hard at work on this thing. Here are some progress pics in chronological order, starting with the oldest pic first...

$200 for this great sounding fretless, anyone?
Dang you! You know, if I wasn't making my own fretless as we speak, I would be your man at $200 all day long.

Are you moving or something?

This is easily the best left-handed purple fretless bass on my local Craigslist. Good luck with the sale!

Re: unique Washburn

I also kinda like the shape of this bass. I think it's neat.

The seller is also selling a 6-string guitar of the same/similar body style: http://www.ebay.com/itm/141304909921. I think that has a pretty rad, space-age look to it.

Re: G&L Bass Necks - More Lefties than Righties!

These would be great necks for those building their bass from scratch and had the flexibility/freedom to cut the neck pocket however they wanted (i.e. and not damage an existing professionally made body). The price is so low I am very tempted to get one just to get one.

That's a pretty cool bass.

Slight thread hijack warning…

Where can one purchase the tuning machines with the sculpted keys like that? I have been looking everywhere for some good quality ones for my next DIY bass (yes, I'm still working on my first one), but they seem to be pretty elusive.

That's cool. Did you check out the seller's other items? They've got a few high-end items for sale right now. This bass is friggin' rad: http://www.ebay.com/itm/291126890971 (not a lefty, though).

Here's another lefty item from them: http://www.ebay.com/itm/301017471987. Just a hair outside of my current price range.
