Re: Steinberger Spirit XZ-25

Price lowered.

Also willing to make an even trade for a four-string version of the same bass. Also possibly open to Hohner B2 and B2A

Re: Short Scale Bass Suggestions?

Thanks for the responses all.

The mustang-esque basses seem to me like the body style would kind of defeat the short scale due the short upper horn. That’s one of the issues with my Vader bass. I was going to possibly build a short scale Vader, but they shift the bridge further toward the neck on ...

Short Scale Bass Suggestions?

After a lifetime of general abuse, specific injuries, and three major surgeries on my right shoulder, I’m reaching the point where long scale basses are becoming an issue for me to play.

Anyone have any suggestions for a decent short scale lefty? I’m looking to keep things below $2000. Less works ...

Can Anyone Recommend an East Coast Builder

I’m looking for someone on the East Coast who can build me a lefty body for a right handed bass. I’ve gotten several good recommendations of builders in California, but once I factor in two-way shipping, the build becomes cost prohibitive. And the builders that I’ve spoken with in NY aren’t ...

How Much Would It Cost to Have a Body Made?

This is a somewhat crazy idea, but possibly doable…maybe

I have a line on a relatively well priced (currently asking $1700 US, but I think I can get it for $1500) Zon ZB5 headless right handed bass. I play left handed inverted (B string on the bottom), so if the body and reassembly wouldn’t be too ...

Re: Can a fanned fret be strung inverted?

That’s kind of what I thought, but I was hoping I was wrong given that it’s only one inch on each side of a regular 34” scale.

I really wish Ibanez would release the EHB with the regular neck.

Thanks for the responses.

Can a fanned fret be strung inverted?

This may be a dumb question, but can a fanned fret neck be strung inverted? Would I still be able to intonate it properly? Do any other obvious issues pop out to you?

I really like the Ibanez EHB, but the only model that they offer left handed is the one with the fanned frets, and I play with the ...

Five piece neck and what appears to be a swap ash body. From the white dot on the pickups, I believe that they’re humbuckers.

If I had the discretionary instrument budget at the moment, I’d grab this.

Strange Sound in New Phil Jones BG-400 Combo

Hi all,

I have a Phil Jones BG-400 combo that I purchased new two weeks ago, and I love it. But this morning it started doing something weird (which it hasn’t done before). A few seconds after I turn it on, I get a sound almost like static electricity that lasts for a second or two, and then when I ...

Kiesel Vader Short Scale (30”)

I almost bought this, but I have a long scale five string. It seems pointless to have the same bass in two different scale lengths. Although my bad shoulder would love this!!!

Thinking of Donating a Bass

I’m thinking of donating my SX Ursa II to someone who would like to play, but can’t afford to buy a bass.

There are a few problems though:
It’s a lefty.
It’s strung right handed.

Those two things make it difficult to find the right person. If it were right handed, I’d have a buddy who is a band ...
