Demystifying Fender Neck Sizes Based on Letter Designations

I found this article from 2013 that may be helpful for anyone who gets confused when trying to discern neck sizes and shapes. As informative as it is, it doesn't really address one important aspect of the neck dimension that I'm currently having trouble pinpointing: The depth of the neck shape.

I've been trying to find a suitable neck to replace the neck on my AM Std P Bass, which is a modern C profile B neck (1-5/8") with a 9-1/2" radius. I'm looking to match the neck on my '73 P bass, which I love, and as best as I can tell that was a B neck with a 7-1/2" radius. That much I know. What I don't know, however, is how to measure the depth/profile of it. It's definitely fatter and chunkier to the feel, but it still looks like a C profile to me and not a U as the article might imply. So my basic question is, how can I measure it?

Anyway, here's the article:

Peter, are you sure about that 7 1/2" radius on your '73 P? Should be 7.25 I believe.
