New Options on Fender Mod Shop

Post by pjmuck »

As predicted, maple necks are available for lefties, along with a few more finish options:

One has to wonder if they'll re-brand their Am Pro series yet again to now offer maple necks, or just let the rosewood stock dry up and not bother offering any lefties at all.

Mod shop has been up for a few months. Kinda like ADE, only fewer options and way more expensive.

I don't recall seeing maple necks or finishes like daphne blue before though, at least when I first checked the mod shop a while ago.

They have. I remember being a little surprised at that color option when the mod shop site went live.

$1800 for a Jazz. Ouch.

That is really cool that they have added Candy Apple Red (or has it always been available?). I have always loved that color.

Maybe it is not tenable from a construction perspective, or maybe it doesn't really make any difference in tone, but I think it would be cool if they offered a 70s pickup spacing option. There seem to be plenty of people around who like it. I wouldn't mind to get my hands on an Ash/Rosewood jazz with 70s spacing (preferably in Olympic White, but that would have to be Alder).

I could be wrong but I believe that very high price does not include a case. I had a couple of favorites on ADE but never ordered now seeing the Mod Shop due to price it's not even a consideration. I agree that the Candy Apple red is nice, however that Mystic Red is very close and as you can still order the body for $179, I am thinking I may order a body and build the bass myself using the parts I want and having US Fender body and Neck.
