Hey guys,
Have you ever used or heard of using mineral spirits to clean a fretboard?

I found this video and took his advice:

It really brought the fretboard I used it on back to life.

The mineral spirits did leave the fretboard looking very dry before I applied the conditioner, and it left ashy spots on my hands where they came into contact. Granted, my hands aren't made of wood, but that made me think that perhaps mineral spirits is a bit too aggressive to use on wood.

I can't argue with the results, though! The fretboard looks like new!

Lemon oil works great in my experience. Never tried mineral spirits.

Mineral spirits is a great way to clean the neck but if you don't oil that thing up nicely afterwards, you will dry the HELL out of the wood. Good work!

A bit long, but a good video overall. Some good cleaning tips, fingerboard/wood grain comparisons... he cleaned the board with Naptha, which seems to be the best to clean with, yet not raise the grain. I'm curious about his use of Feed-N-Wax, a combination of oils and waxes - seems like a good idea, especially here in Hawaii....
