Yamaha BB 1600

Have or do any of you own a Yamaha BB 1600? I just picked one up off of GC used section and am wondering what your thoughts might be. I have been looking for an older Yamaha for awhile, but wanted something that caught my eye. Not being able to check it out sucks a little, but they do have a good return policy. Their grading system leaves a lot to be desired as it will vary wildly from store to store.
Thanks in advance!

I have a friend that is looking for a BB414L, he sold his years ago and noted it was a great bass for low priced basses. Not sure if this helps but overall I have seen positive feedback on the older BB414L's.

Hi Bill,
If this came from Oregon, it was mine

. I had to sell it to secure my Warwick Fortress project. If it was mine, it's a 1988 and it's all stock apart from the knobs (it was missing one so I swapped out the set). It was in good condition when I dropped it off some weeks ago.

Also.... Tony Kanal from no doubt used these for a long time, and still uses a Yamaha variant of the 1600.

Hi Bob,
Thanks it does! It speaks volumes when you regret letting something go and later try to find another.
Hi Dave,
That's awesome and yes it is coming from Oregon! Thank you about the date! I have been looking for instruments that I remember from my younger days! I was playing out a lot at that time and just remember wanting some of these guys, but finding no left-handed models! I have been adding instruments to my collection from around that time (1979-1992). I remember seeing ads with Billy Sheehan and his pink one. at the time I wasn't a big Sheehan fan, but really liked the look (shape) of the bass.

Hey Dave!
The Yamaha arrived and it is Great! Sounds like, well.....a P-bass with an additional Jazz pickup. I am liking the feel of the neck! I'll take sometime later to adjust the tuners though. They move if anyone looks at them!

Glad it made it in one piece, and that you like it so far. For the tuners, there's an odd tool to adjust them that nobody ever has, but as tuners and such are your area of expertise I'm sure you'll have a plan
