Getting up early to go surf has its advantages.....wanted one of these for a long time.....hopefully it will live up to my personal hype! If not, you know where it will be next.

I'm ready and waiting if it doesn't work out for you. Ideally I've always wanted a red one, but this has been on my want list for ages. Nice score. And on the positive side, you did save me from having yet another 'awkward' conversation with my wife about adding yet another bass to my arsenal. :-)

Have fun with it!

I though of pulling the trigger but temptation didn't win this time!! Glad it went to a board member!
This bass is super cool!

I'll keep ya'll in mind if this is not the one for me. Black wasn't my first choice either but hey....let me take it out on a few hits... There's always MARTY BELL for nice paint. This would be killer in sea foam...
Speaking of sea foam, surfing sucked today.
Water and air temp were the same....52...15 mph wind.
Waves were poor...but I was there.
(Not actually in Philly....jersey shore pre-gig)

Update -
So I took this bass out on about 2 dozen dates in past few months - really great feeling (i love MIJ/CIJ jazz profile necks) and playing bass but it lacked a little wool & bite so some minor mods were in order.
I made one mod at a time over a period of a few weeks - took it out, assessed, and back to the bench with a yay or nay...
heres what it ended up with.

-Fender Custom Shop 66 Jazz pickups - nothing over the top and wanted to try and keep it fender as much as possible.
-New CTS lefty split shaft pots with an orange cap
-80s badass II bridge (made the biggest diff)
-thumb rest
- Fender F Neck Plate
-Sadowsky Blue Steels
-lowered the 3 way switches on the lower bout by 1/8"

Thats it - turned this bass into a tone variation monster - i actually like the stock preamp - can't go in the 80-100% full on range but who does that anyway??!!

The bass also arrived with a goodly amount of dings, chips, dents, and honest wear so not being a fan of black and this not being a vintage piece some cosmetic alteration is in process.
remember i like to surf.....: )
pics coming soon....
