According to Southpaw's FB page they are back but with a much higher price tag than last year. $1999 for the TBird and $1699 for the Midtown. The smart asses who bought theirs last year saved $400.

I saw that on Facebook. They're offering them in walnut and cherry finishes, but it's not clear whether or not the original sunburst is being offered or not and whether or not the price would be lower.

I wonder if the three Midtown finishes will be the same as before (black, cherry, sunburst)?

I wonder if Gibson could be convinced to do a run of the 335 bass in lefty?

it'd be easier to save up for a custom creation

I would really like to know Gibson's motivation behind this latest wave of lefty offerings. After decades of ignoring us they finally get all warm and fuzzy towards us and offer a whole slew of left handed basses, including highly desired T-Birds. Did the initial run sell beyond their wildest expectations? If so, rather than maintain an ongoing lefty market from a price point perspective on par with righties have they opted instead to get greedy here by now marking up there instruments by $500? Unless there are significant upgrades now being offered, there's zero reason to be jacking up the price for a walnut or cherry finish (standard finishes they've been offering all along). My guess is they probably think the lefty market is a brief short-lived window, so they'll grab as much profit as they can before they stop doing them altogether again for another 40 years now that they've got our attention. Deliberate manipulation of supply and demand, which still amounts to little respect for lefties when all is said and done.

Right about now would be a shitty time to be one of those dudes that paid more than $3500 for a used one after they sold out everywhere.

I'm pretty sure Gibson are just trying to squeeze the market for all it's got.
they saw how fast the first run went and figured " we can make
another run and this time it will would sell like we hoped the first would, if not as good as the first."
the 500$ mark up, might be either due to the fact that this wasn't as planned as the first run so it costs them more money and just a "we got your balls in a vice grip" sorta situation.
cuz' as mentioned, people payed 3500$ for a used one.that's still 1500 more then what they want.

Anyone know if the right handed models are increasing in price as well?

SGs are still out there, as are the EBs. I'm not seeing any Midtowns though.

Wow, it was this time last year, I ordered a Midtown bass in Sunburst. Waited 8 months until summer to find out my order was never coming as the bass was no longer available. My retail chain found me a single cherry lefty hiding in their warehouse and sent it to me. I had it for one day and sent it back due to some really bad qc issues. I was so disappointed.
In hindsight, after playing and hearing my right handed buddy's Korean made Warwick Star bass, I never would have been satisfied with a Midtown. The Star bass is everything a semi hollow should be.
I sincerely tried to purchase a Midtown and felt really let down by Gibson.

Let's throw some more salt on the wounds, shall we? Musicians's Friend is having a closeout sale on 2013 Gibsons. Look at this price for a righty T-Bird:

2013 Gibson's are now discounted at all retailers. Sweetwater, Dave's, GG and Evil Empire associated outlets. Southpaw is also discounting some of their 2012 stock.
