Yeah, it's now more expensive with shipping than what Musician's Friend has sold used lefty AS Jazz basses for.
Nice luxury to have UPS pack your item for you, but trying to pass the cost of that convenience onto potential buyers won't work unless the total cost including shipping still works out to being a good deal. Otherwise it just feels like you're being asked to pay more than you should for the seller's ease.

You all know I'm no expert on Fenders, so i don't know what the actual market value of this bass was, or is now. But, I did a google search using the sellers auction header (Fender Jazz Bass Guitar 4 String Left Handed) and came up with several online stores selling new Fender Jazz's for $599, for example http://www.samash.com/p/Fender_Standard ... ors_183807 ... with free Fedex ground shipping.

I don't know if the model he's attempting to sell is of higher quality than the one in the add above, but his shipping expense is, as we all know, totally out of line. Almost all buyers would agree to a typical $25-$45 shipping cost, with insurance included, and take their chances on the risks of ground shipping. For his price, that package should be 2nd day air, and delivered with flowers and a box of chocolates! I just think the guy is downright lazy... so what if he has a picture of a receipt to show potential buyers - that just means some naive buyer had no clue there were cheaper alternatives.... I hope he keeps re-listing this bass with unrealistic prices and shipping costs, and racks up the ebay renewal fees... what a putz!

Fivebass, the eBay auction is for an American Standard Jazz, and the Sam Ash link you posted is for an MIM Standard Jazz, hence the price difference

Thanks Matt, didn't see MIM in the listing, but I figured it had to be for that price. I bought a MIM Jazz bass back in 2005 for $425 including case. Hard to imagine they're going for $599 now...

Yep pricey in my opinion. They can be found used on eBay all day long in the $350ish range.
