Nice. But the downside is that nobody yet knows if the bass is a dud. :ugeek:

Tru dat... and that's why I wouldn't bid on it because I'd wanna play the shit out of it.

But, if someone was looking for a museum piece, that thar would be it.

Yes indeed. I'd play the snot out of it as well. But for once in my life, I can understand someone keeping this pristine. :geek:

And by the way, I find burst finishes over ash mesmerizing. So gorgeous.

Droooool :o (there is no drool emoticon...)

Wow. Never seen another one like this. Although the one thing I love about '70s Fenders is the mojo, and the more beat up the better, this would be an amazing piece for a real collector. I'd be concerned about the neck. If it was stored with the strings on at full tension, I'd bet that the neck is bent and would require some work. But maybe not.

Well, it's that risk you sometimes have to take. There is buyers protection  . It looks very sweet tho. I took a chance on my 78/79.... Absolutely NOT a dud. Best P I ever had and minty condition too. 75 is worth more and the box inc. WOW!

it's back on the 'bay with a starting price of $2595 with no reserve. Their website has it for sale at $3595. Last time they auctioned it it went up to $2900 (?) or thereabouts, but the reserve wasn't met

Pretty stunning. I wonder what it weighs?

Just found it's twin sister in rosewood. Not quite as NOS, but pretty sharp nonetheless. I personally favor rosewood over maple on a P bass:

All, I have been looking at many of the 70's P out there, I just purchased the Rosewood 75 P from Brian at Bizarre Guitars.

I have been looking at the 71 P available in the UK (price a little high), the 75 NOS noted in this tread and the 75 P bass with Rosewood. I figured I may want to jump on it as often if you look too long it eventually goes. Eventually the economy will turn around (it always does) and these bases prices will see seem dirt cheap.

Indeed. Great price. I seriously thought about this, and considered paying much more than that! wow what does the buyer do, play it or keep it as an investment?
