Any good music stores in Hong Kong?

Post by bassmasta76 »

Hey all... I'm in Hong Kong on business for the next week and have been on the hunt for a music store. Does anyone out there know of any shops that may have Lefty basses? I always like to try and play something when I'm in a foreign country... it's a personal goal of mine :D .

thanks in advance!

Well, since nobody has replied to this, I guess I will ;). I found a shop in Kowloon called Tom Lee Music. They have a number of shops in the area, but the only one that has Lefty basses is the one in Tsimshatsui, Kowloon... the shop is huge, with lots of basses and guitars, mostly right handed. They only had 3 Lefties (that the salesman was aware of), one was a Sunburst Fender American Precision, and the other two were black J's... one American and one Mexican. They were very gracious and let me hang out for awhile and hack a little. I've not had much time to play in the last few months because of work and life in general, so I'm a little out of practice but who cares... it was fun. Anyhow, I played all three... the P-bass was a piece of junk though. I'm not sure what the deal was but the G string was real weak sounding.. muted almost. They set them up and tune them but whoever did that one, it wasnt a good job. The J basses sounded pretty good though the action on the American was way low and sky-high on the mexican. oh well... it was fun, and I recommend it for sure.

that's all.
