Sweet bass... I've always wanted one... but...
History of this model:

The Hot Rod was originally made for only two years 1999-2000. The concept was to have a bass that could perform as a Jazz Bass and Precision Bass at the same time: Hence both pick-ups on this model.

People had mixed feelings at the time this bass came out. Pure Jazz Bass aficionados said that it was not 100% a Jazz Bass (indeed, it has the Precision neck) and Precision aficionados did not like the fact that it had an additional Jazz pickup, so the model was discontinued after two years only.

Thankfully, overtime critics came to realize how a wonderful bass this is: not only could you get a Jazz sound, but also a Precision sound and everything in between, so it became THE bass to have, to the point that Fender decided to do another production run in 2004-2006 and this time called the Hot-rodded!
