Carmine has at least three of those and once said in his personal thread that they're his favourite basses, and the best kept secret on the second hand market these days. 80's Ibanez basses offer great value for money and are really good instruments. I love my '81 Roadster and my Musicians

It still a lot of dough for a bowed neck. You can not always fix that.

An important point of distinction on these Roadstars- the original version (thru 1985- maple board & headstock/ open tuners/ white pickguard) is the desirable version (see top pic) and IMO (as well as several other notable players) is one of the all-time best "Precision killers" ever made. If you find one in good working condition do not hesitate- I own and play 3 of these. The next generation (1986 and later- rosewood board, sealed tuners, black pickguard, lighter weight body), was a significant step downward (see bottom pic). I've owned a couple of these and gotten rid of them. A decent bass and looks very similar on the surface, but holding and playing side by side it lacks the all around feeling of quality and substance of the earlier version and just feels and plays much cheaper/ sounds more generic by comparision.

have to totally agree with Carmine. I had one of the pre-85's and sold it when I emigrated to the USA. A bad move on my part at the time, but the reasoning behind it was that at the time gear was a lot cheaper and easier to obtain in the US. However, I have never run across another one since.

That bass isn't worth it. It's the one I sold last year for about $100, after fiddling with it for months and finally realizing the neck was never going to get straight.
