Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass
Sometimes I think, maybe I'm lucky I'm left handed. If I could play any bass I wanted, my collection would REALLY be out of control.

Re: Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass
I think putting a bridge cover on that bass was a costly mistake.

Aside from that they are great sounding basses.
Re: Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass
Danomite, I am curious as to why would the cover kill the value? Would it kill the structural integrity of the wood? I thought of doing it to mine, but haven't bothered taking it in to the shop to get it done. Thought of doing it next time i got to the store to get new strings.
I agree with Frenchy, I think the bass sounds great, especially with a pick. I have gotten a few people make offers to me for the bass. Of course, I am not selling.

I think it just has to do with the fact that extra, non-OEM, holes get drilled into that luverly bass bodyvelalv wrote:Danomite, I am curious as to why would the cover kill the value? ... and the ambiguous "Electronics have recently been replaced" comment doesn't help boost resale value either...

I was thinking the same thing.

Why do I think? Because someone shoved a brain in my head, and that's what it does.belinmad wrote:I'm curious, why?danomite64 wrote:I think putting a bridge cover on that bass was a costly mistake.

Re: Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass
Aside from the added holes i personally don't see a problem, now, anyone interested in the bass would possibly ask for pictures without the cover in case it would be hiding some ugly little secrets. The 2008 preamp was excellent I wonder why it was replaced and by what.

I'd prefer it to be a trick question. Then we'd find out if I knew any trick answers! Anyway, the bass is up past $400 already, so maybe the seller will do okay.

The bridge cover doesn't bother me - it's where the ad says:
"Electronics have recently been replaced"
Exactly Frenchy, Why? And with what?

I think it looks better with the bridge cover. If anything, it would make the bass more attractive to me if I was in the market.

I asked him, this is what he had to say: "The pots were bad so I had to get those fixed."Stingray5 wrote: The bridge cover doesn't bother me - it's where the ad says:

Hmmm.. Ad says it was toured with, but kept in 'best conditions'. Wonder what could have destroyed the pots??belinmad wrote:

Regardless it closed at $755 - someone got a nice deal

Pots are strange. As I wrote here once, my Fender CS bass lost both volume pots at random times in the same year and had to be replaced. Nothing but normal weekly gigging use.
