Does this look original to you Fender experts? Wouldn't this be a smoking deal if so? If not, what looks to be not original?

DiMarzio pickup, Badass II bridge. Other than that it looks original. I like it.

And like all good 70's Fenders, you'll need to take off the neck and see if there's any room left for truss rod adjustment. This of course should be done before the end of the 30 day return period.

I'd ask them to describe what the back looks like, it might be pretty worn out at that price.

I'm interested in this bass. Already put a call in for better pix, etc.

Yes, that is a very good price especially if it is in good condition all around. The DiMarzio and BadAss are typical '70s mods and are easily reversable if desired as they did not require any alterations to the instrument. I wonder how much it weighs.

Cosmetically it looks a bit worn and I'll bet it weighs over 10lbs, but I love the walnut finish and the price is still great if it's in fine shape otherwise. It's also pretty rare to find a rosewood neck '78 P these days. You could do a lot worse than a DiMarzio replacement too, especially if it's one of the older 70's PAF ones with the patent label on the bottom. Those PUPs have a great growl and punch to them that I love.

Awesome!
It might not be too heavy, my '75 is right around 9 lbs. maybe slightly under.

Got it. Great neck, needs new pickguard. Came with OHSC, which I am going to sell. It is missing the 2 outer spring loaded latches, but is in otherwise very nice shape. I am also selling the Badass Bridge. It isn't notched, but is slightly worn from string wear. In great shape. Lemme know if anyone here is interested in those items and I will post them in the for sale section too.

I will. I'm just putting a 70s style Fender bridge on it. It also needs a new pickguard. This one is busted up around the jack. Other than that it just needed cleaning up. The badass and case are for sale.

Nice score!

So what is the weight? And are you keeping the DiMarzio on it?

I'll weigh it once I get it back together, but it's not bad. Weight has never been a concern of mine really (unless I do fly dates & lug stuff thru airports). I'm gonna give the Dimarzio a shot. It sounds pretty good.
