Ok...

I completely admit that I am a sucker for the "mystique" that surrounds all that is Fodera Bass... the signature sound, impeccable craftmanship, 3-year wait time, MVP artist roster...

But, um... $10K for a plain ash body set neck 4-string?

Keep dreaming!

Yeah, although Fodera current list prices and wait times are crazy, who in the world would pay $10K for that bass. I think that $6K is more reasonable, and even at that price it would take some time to sell.

I had a '92 Monarch that I bought and sold for $3K. I deeply regret it. That was one of those one in a lifetime deals. The bass was indeed superb. The only thing I didn't like was that it had a slab body, no arm cut, so that made it a bit less comfortable than a Fender. I can't even remember why I sold it. GAS, I suppose.

My friend bought a (righty) Monarch in '84, and his was $900.

So... being that it's the same year and a very simple instrument... if we tack on the lefty upcharge maybe a grand when it was new?

Maybe. My friend's looks a little more fancy than the lefty; gold hardware, neck-thru, fancy top.....here, I have pics:

you can see the Ken Smith influence in the neck joint. Anyone have a clue how long Vinnie F worked for Smith?

Geez... that righty is very nice indeed. $900? Not too bad at all. Of course, 1984 dollars were worth what? Ten times more than today's dollars... so there you go... $9000... guess this guy is only a LITTLE high then... ;)
