It appears that the bass had the unfortunate fate of being in the hands of a right-handed player at some point; there are screwholes on each horn for strap buttons.
Seriously, why do right-handed players do this? That's like a perfectly healthy person riding a motorized wheelchair to work because they think it's funny.
