Thanks! Couldn't resist a five-string sunburst for $99.00. Also bought a set of Fender Indie Flatwound long scales for $19.95. Total cost and shipping to Hawaii only $176.72!

Yes, I've been looking at their site a couple of times now, and so far I've been able to resist :P
But some of these look really tempting and I'd love to try a couple of them out. That SX SPJ natural ash, maple board, J-style with PJ-pickups for example, and their take on the '70s Jazz Bass. But also the cute pinkburst and purpleburst 32" Precisions

yeah, that Purple burst is cool. Was tempted on the fretless too, but holding off for now.

Those prices are amazing! And the some of the finishes are really cool. How can they sell them so cheap??? Are they made of cereal boxes? Do they sound/play even half decent. I suppose at those prices, if you got 2 or 3 gigs out of them, you got your money's worth....

Actually the SX and Brice basses have a very good reputation. There are HUGE threads about them on Talkbass. I have been holding back as well but I have a profit-sharing onus in March and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these $99 while I can still get the old style headstock.

I have an Agile guitar and the quality is equal to the high end Epiphones (they might even be the same factory, can't remember)

I'd love to get the 49$ 32" Pink Gypsy bass, the only thing is that it'll cost more to get it shipped than the bass itself...

Am I missing something? Aren't those basses always $99?

I'd love to get a 6 string Douglas. The Defiant looks cool too, but at $459 you're starting to creep up into the "average low end" bass pricing, and I might sooner buy an Ibanez. ;)

Yeah they've always been $99.

I think most were lowered to $99 quite a while ago, and now a couple more have come down - like the SX SPJ natural ash, maple board, J-style with PJ-pickups...

the Jazz bass I just bought was usually $149 or more, so $99 for a five string is worth the plunge...

The ash P/J with the pearloid pickguard used to be $179. I don't go to the site that often but right now it looks like they are getting rid of old stock.

The 5 string jazz types have been $99 for as long as I remember. I'm tempted to grab one

Yeah, those models have been at $99 for a while. They are trying to clear out the old stock and replace it with the new Ursa line.

Well, I don't too much care for the new "Ursa" design Rondo is coming out with, so I'm thinking about throwing down a hard earned $99 for one of their SJB-57 LPB (Lake Placid Blue) Lefty Jazz basses before they're all gone- I've always wanted a Lake Placid Blue Jazz, and Rondo's solid alder bodies are pretty nice. I also just recently picked up a second Squier Modified 70's Jazz, brand new, for $199 (!) I really love the neck and the tone of my first one. So I had a thought: what if I combine the SJB-57 LPB body with the neck and hardware from the Modified 70's Jazz, and add a set of vintage style knobs? I did a mock up to see what this would look like beforehand (see last pic below). My total cost would still only be $299. What do you guys think?

Awesome!
Yeah, I'm trying hard to resist the urge to buy one of those but I am weakening by the day.

Works for me. :D I have a theory about you, Carmine. You don't actually own any rare lefty basses, just some very good Photoshop skills. ;)

Double check the neck pocket/neck heel widths, however. I've heard that SX stuff is not necessarily interchangeable with Fender parts. I still have my fretless Warmoth Tele bass neck thta I had on my '77 J before I sold it that needs to be married to a body, so I've been entertaining picking up one of these $99 jobs as well. There was a loaded MIJ Jazz body on ebay a few days ago, but it went for almost $300.

Why yes, you are correct sir, for here in the virtual world of LeftyBassist.com, all things are possible....for example, here's a old pic of me playing my rare Lefty Gibson Doubleneck 6 String Baritone SG.... you don't see one of these everyday, now do you? I think I recall playing this on the song "Guitar Man" from the "Clambake" soundtrack, but I could be mistaken, you know my memory ain't what it used to be... ;)
