My Warmoth Build - Finally Done!

Disclaimer right off the top... I'm nowhere near the photographer that some of you guys are. So I apologize for my basic pics.....

This one has been in the works for a LONG time. I had my old Fender AM P neck on this body for a couple of tours. But the new neck finally came in a few weeks ago and I got all the hardware and headstock decal together. Needs a few small tweaks in the set up department but all very minor. SUPER happy with the final result.

Warmoth body: Chambered mahogany with ash top. Gold top gold on top, cream binding, clear lacquer on the back. String thru.

Warmoth neck: Tele style headstock, P Bass (1 11/16" nut width), 20 frets, 10" radius, steel stiffening rods, standard profile. Roasted flame maple neck and board. Stainless med/jumbo frets. Black face dots, moon glow side dots.

Hardware: Hipshot A style string thru bridge, Hipshot USA Ultralight tuners w/D-Tuner. Hipshot 3 string retainer.

Electronics: Straight up EMG Geezer Butler passive pickups. No pre-amp. Jazz style knobs.

Headstock Decal: I had a few of these made for my own parts builds. My stage name is South Pawl Jones so... and the "Mr Bassman" thing comes from an inside joke about how all the German sound guys address bass players during a sound check. So imagine "Mr Bassman" spoken in a German accent. Ha.

Wow, that looks stunning! I love the Gibson Goldtop style finish with the clear lacquer on the back and sides, and that neck wood is just lush. I even love the look of the Jazz style knobs on this. Turned out great!

First off, thanks everyone for the props on this one. It's out right now getting Plek'd. (Not sure I believe in that tech-voodoo or not, but I thought I'd try it once in my life. This seemed like an appropriate project to do so.)

As far as the chambered mahogany goes... I chose that wood because I wanted it to mimic a Les Paul gold top and it was something I saw - and loved - in Dusty Hill's collection. I can't really say that it sounds noticeably different than my MIA Fender Hot Rod P body which has the same p/u's in it. BUT, it is way lighter than you would expect any mahogany body of this size to be. I'm not super concerned with weight, but I'm glad I got this option. It's definitely more in line with a regular P body. The sound difference is more apparent from the neck. I'm not sure why that is, but maybe it has something to do with the roasted maple and stainless frets? It definitely sustains more than my other P neck. Tone wise, it's very, very subtle. But I think it adds some high mids... maybe...
