Other than the control plate issue how much did building a '54 P/Tele bass cost Peter?

Seems like there's a demand for such a bass among lefties. It and the T-Bird are the two basses mentioned most as wishing a lefty version existed.

I saw this image in a discussion board ... could it be a real '51P lefty, or is it simply a mirror image?

Totally missed this post until now.

This is going back a few years ago, but I tallied up the charges to be under $900.

Actually, I wish they made the Ripper or the G3.

A Ripper would be my first choice but I like the sound of all three.

Yes to all three!

I wish they had offered the RD Artist lefty.

I had one, it was my first quality bass. The tone was amazing. Heavy, heavy bass though, all maple and ebony, mine weighed almost 14lbs!

I traded it for my first true lefthanded bass, my '75 Precision.

I wish Sadowsky made its Metro line for lefties, because then I'd have a better shot at being able to afford one.

I wish a Telecaster II bass (or reissue), but i'd like to own also an American Vintage (57 and/or 62) or simply a Classic 50 mex.

Agree about the SCPB and 70's Tele basses I've always loved them and was disappointed when the Squire model wasn't offered lefty.

I think that a 70's Tele style using a Darkstar pup would be tremendously cool! 8-)

Gibson RD. I'd kill for one.

I'd also kill for a white one, eventhough this isn't the RD you get the point.

Lefty ATK's are impossible to come by (wouldn't necessarily kill for one) , part from the butt ugly slipknot version.

No need for a lefty ATK - that's what a Stingray is for.

Zimmy, have you seen the First Act Delgada bass that looks pretty RD-ish? They will do a lefty version of it.

http://www.firstact.com/Products/Limite ... _bass.aspx

Also, talk to Rod (Rodent) here in the Blueprinting+Bondo forum, he could probably put together a pretty sweet RD-ish style bass for you.

Wow! That First Act Delgada looks great. Never seen that before. What a weird company they are. I though they only made cheapo toys and instruments for starters (I always see their stuff at Toys R Us).

Andrew, where'd you hear that they're making lefties? And how much are they?

I want a Delgada now.. :x
but I've filled up my bass quota, for the time being.
Thanks for the info.

Hey Peter, I spoke to them directly and they said they'd make a lefty Delgada. They aren't cheap though, their pricing is all mid level cost range. the bass was $1500-ish in price, after the $200 upcharge for being lefty (booo!), so not terrible.

Scroll through their gallery, they have a few different bass designs not shown in their regular line.

I too would love a lefty Thunderbird, I've even chased after the Tokai version of it but to no avail. One day maybe it'll happen.
