It keeps the price of a vintage lefty in check. He is not one of those 20k+ dreamers. If I had the dough, I would possibly go for it.

Guys I'm trying but the deal would involve alot of variables including borrowing money, trading and selling other gear.I will give it my best shot.I've always wanted a pre CBS Fender so I will do ANYTHING I can to score this.I've had alot of great basses in my possesion but not one like this.I believe James Jamersons sunburst P was a 1960 and living here in Detroit that would mean alot to me.

It didn't sell but looking at the pics, it looks like the heel of the headstock has been repaired. That neck imo has been broken before.

I see no break-repair in that neck.

If you look closely, you can see a line that go to the heel and to the side which to me looks like a laminated repair. It could be wood grain but I'm not sure it would go like that. I might be wrong but may be not. I've send the pics to my luthier to validate this.

That's clearly wood grain to my eyes.

Relisted again at just below $7K.
I'm getting intruiged by this one. I might actually try to get down there to play it. Anyone else chasing this one? Anyone play it?

Hmmm, is it worth buying and refinishing? (or stripping). That is the quesiton. For me.
How much is a 1960's lefty Precision "worth." Anyone got a Kelley Blue Book?
The ONLY way I can answer that question is to get it in my hands and play it. But still, that's a lotta coin for one bass. Hmmm...

It's worth whatever you're willing to pay for it.
How difficult would it be to strip the layers off?

Good question. I don't know, myself.
Not sure if the daphne is Fender or aftermarket. Not sure if that affects the stripping process?

Geoff,
Maybe you can ask this question to the owner of Guitar Showcase. I was told he was one of the largest guitar collector in the US and an authority on vinatge instruments.
