Looking for a Leo era G&L bass

Post by Rick W »

Prefer a passive model, like an L-1000, SB-1 & -2, but will consider anything you might want to sell.
Thanks,
Rick

There's an old L-2000 on Medford Craigslist:

Thanks for the heads up. I live near Seattle and saw that one. If I can’t find a passive bass soon, I’m going to give that one a shout

Technically it is a passive bass, with a fully passive EQ (passive treble and bass, cut-only). All that's active about them is the boost circuit, which can be turned off, on or on with treble boost. They're unlike most other active basses :)

I had both an L-100 and L-2000, I regret selling my L-2000 as it was the most versatile bass and yes you can turn off the active electronics with one switch. I highly suggest an L-2000 to anyone

I just did a little experiment to determine if the L-2000 preamp draws from the battery even when in passive mode, and indeed it does.

I then removed the battery to see if the bass still operates normally in passive mode without the battery, and it does. So, really, the L-2000 can be completely passive, which is how mine is now, as I did not bother to put the battery back in.

I did the same thing the only issue is you may hit the switch from passive to active without the battery and loose output.
Or more optimistic a mute switch.
