1980 Greco PB600 Vintage White Precision Bass

Post by pjmuck »

Another Greco P Bass, this one in a nice vintage white. I don't see it listed on their website or on Reverb yet, but his video demo is less than a day old, so I assume he still has it if you inquire.

Bass Japan Direct website:

I believe he said 58,000 yen shipped? So that would be under $500 US.

He's not a bad upside down player!

I love it: this Greco looks just like my old SB-1 and the other looks just like my new SB-1 8-)

Man, I really like that bass- aged white, with some nice authentic vintage patina, and great PB tone. I’m a big fan of this era of Greco. I’ve had a few of these PB600 basses over the years, imho they were all easily better than the late 70’s/ early 80’s Fenders of the time, and very much on par with early 70’s Fenders.
I sold my last pair of PB600’s, a burst and a natural, to a fellow LB board buddy- I do miss them  !

P.J. I think he was saying he paid 58,000 yen ($500) for it shipped locally there in Japan. So for a U.S. buyer, you’d need to add whatever his sales profit, plus shipping to the U.S. (probably $150-$200?)

Gotcha.

Anybody reach out to him yet? I am curious what the market is for one of these, though not looking to pick one up right now.

Danny Stewart is the seller in Japan and he said $550 plus shipping for this bass outside of Reverb through Wise (Transferwise) which is a killer deal, I've purchased a bass from him this way in the past. He's a trustworthy seller.

I bought the natural one today. And I have Carmine's other two PB600s. I ***********LOVE**************** Greco Ps and I use them all the time in my numerous bands and music projects, so they all get played A LOT. Best bang for the buck in my book. :D

These Grecos are absolutely great instruments. I would put them on the Level of early Fernandes.
I own a 1980 Greco PB700 Super Real blonde w. aluminium pickguard, a monster bass

Definitely a great deal for both of you

It's ironic that Greco was able to make a virtually identical bass to the Precision yet Leo got sued by his former company when his G&L's headstock resembled Fender's too closely. The only "lawsuit guitar" incident I am aware of with a Japanese company was Gibson Vs. Ibanez.
