Fender Jaguar

Post by tpgwade »

Didn’t realise these were a thing until I picked one up a few weeks ago. Saw one advertised on my local free ads. Was being used upside down by a right hander.

Japanese, 2006/07 as far as I can tell.

Nice score! Yes, these were only made for the Japanese market. What was additionally cool about them was they had active electronics, though I seem to recall they were pretty noisy. Shield up your control cavity and under the pick guard and it should help greatly.

Yeah surprised I managed to score one. Think I’ve used up all my bass finding
luck (still chasing an ATK).

Agreed, is noisy with the active pick ups turned on but will be getting that sorted out soon. Still sounds good in passive mode though.

Nice find! Now, I could solve your ATK problem (and you could solve my Jaguar problem) ;)!

Congrats!!! I imported one directly from Japan in CAR, which was a color not available in the states. I took out the pup switches and converted to stacked knobs, and threw in some aguilar pups and preamp. She's a looker!

Seems somewhat blasphemous... but it looks great, and probably sounds better too. Still..... :)

The switch system had a fatal flaw - two of the switches were for the pickups, and one was for series/parallel, and it was in a perfect spot for me to accidentally hit the switches when I played with a pick. If I either had only one pickup on and accidentally switched the pickup off, or hit the series/parallel switch with only one pickup on, all sound would cut out. It happened enough times at shows that I decided it had to go. I believe the newer Squier Jaguars use a similar control layout but with a P/J pup configuration.

Thanks for clarification... I KNEW there had to be a legitimate reason! :)

Would like to rediscuss the Jaguar Japan Bass.
I am also looking for one for ages now. Unbelievalbe although there were 2 years of production in left handed, so few are around compared e.g. to the Aerodynes
Let me know if anyone wants to sell or trade, thanks
