Gotta see! perfect balance p bass - Reverb

Post by crescenze »

Still shaking my head. I don't know which is the more bizarre the description or the modifications on the bass itself.

Yep, that would be Mark D Phillips, and the sad part is this seller calls himself a luthier and has been doing stuff like this for YEARS in a fairly successful eBay shop :?

He buys cheap 7-string guitars and converts them into wide-necked 6-strings for ham-fisted people, and he butchers cheap Gear4music B-stock acoustics into "thumb style" guitars. He's been going at this for years, and his work is just plain awful.

At one point there was even one of these Hitler rant clips made about him (with the famous bunker scene from Der Untergang) but sadly I can't find it anymore. Here is the man himself "demoing" a Perfect Balance Jazz Bass though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xI0QG2kDfb0

WOW! No double WOW! After I read this I looked at his other Reverb listings and they are maybe even more bizarre. I think the descriptions and reasoning for what he does are more bizarre than the guitars themselves. The list goes on and on. Here's one of the stranger ones.

I was holding it together until i noticed the scalloped neck...... then it was time to run away screaming
In the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful...

YIKES
I have soft spot for fugly instruments, but these are even too much for me. I don’t get how people justify trying to sell this stuff. I’m all for experimentation, but keep it in the basement my man.
