... and black paint job. I'm always leery of black as a color, I've bought so many inferior pieces of wood that hide behind the paint job.
But hey, I can understand why this one is painted black. If I were in slipknot, that would be my favorite color or an instrument ....

It's not solid black, it's transparent. It leans somewhat to a very dark purplish grey. But agreed, I like the other available colour better:
