Delusional Seller List

Post by TheMilford »

So, Maybe this isn't allowed... a schadenfreude of sorts... but I feel we should be unified against this kind of madness... maybe we can post sellers that inflate prices and try to gauge us lefties...

First up, this idiot... not only is he asking almost 4-times what this is actually worth, he seems to not really grasp that maybe if he would actually list this in the Lefty Bass catagory it might get more views. I tried to negotiate with him, and even explained that listing it properly could help... he eventually added "Lefty" to the listing title but it still sits in wasteland of right basses... Anyway, maybe we can get a bunch of us to low-ball him offers so he gets the point.

If this isn't allowed feel free to delete or move this post.

Cheers,

I put in an offer of $1001.00.

I got this message, ha ha:

The seller has chosen to decline offers below a certain threshold, and your offer was too low.

That price is crazy. They're amazing basses, but definitely not worth this asking price. 1000 sounds fair.
And if this is indeed checked and setup by their luthier, he could have at least cleaned the fingerboard and polished those frets. They almost look green!

At one point he said he could go $1500 rock bottom... that was 4-5 months ago when I contacted him from my personal account...His whole shop seems delusionally priced.

BTW: wanna sell me One of your MCs? Hahah

that's the one I would want... I've seen your pics on line from a while back. I think photobucket or something, when you search lefty Ibanez Musician. If you were to sell it what would your asking price be?

My 1981 and 1983 Musician were both purchased from European sellers. The lefties seem to come up more occasionally in European territories, where maybe $1000 gets you in the conversation- but not very often in the States, where $1500 is not an unreasonable starting point to hopefully negotiate down from, depending on condition- and like it or not realistically you’re gonna pay a few bucks premium for a lefty.

Definitely agree with Jeroen that the most ludicrous thing was that bit about being “checked and setup by their luthier” who apparently couldn’t even be bothered to clean the gunk off the fretboard of their supposed $2400 instrument.

This bass has been "rode hard, and put up wet", as we say here in the states... and you're all right... no attempt has been made to clean, or polish, Any part of this bass to justify that astounding asking price... but; that piece of tape on the back control panel must have added at least $150 to the asking price, right?!
