Re: Ibanez SR1200L
Nice looking bass... I've always been impressed with the amazing amount of models Ibanez puts out... from very affordable $200 range... to boutique-esque models costing $two-grand or more, and worth it! I own two SR2006L's, an inexpensive acoutstic model, and of course, my ATK 5-string... my first Ibanez was an SR Soundgear 800, all black, thinnest neck I've ever played; my first hot-rod bass, and it was cool! Owned an Amber ATK-4, that I sold to a forum member in Florida... I like Ibanez...
R&B Stretch Bass, Walter Woods 1000w Green-Light Stereo Amp, AccuGroove El Whappo and TR112, assorted axes, amps, cabs...

Same here... I have a soft spot for Japanese brands and most of them are/were lefty-friendlyfivebass52 wrote:Nice looking bass... Same! Huge Ibanez-nut. I especially love their 80s stuff. I have two MC924's, an RS924, a righty ST924, an ATK305 and I used to own two ATK300's, an SR800LE and three RG guitars. Quality stuff, durable and robust and they all sounded and played great. I've considered selling the ATK305 many times, but I just can't bring myself to it.
Good luck on the 1200, they're beautiful basses.

I was watching a video of Carol Kaye yesterday and noticed for Guitar and Bass you often see Carol with her Ibanez bass.
I am sure Carol has played many basses over the years and you can tell from this video she is an Ibanez Girl.
BTW, if you have some free time this video is part master class, part entertainment and part history lesson.

I second that recommendation. She's a character! I love her story about her track for Mel Tormé -- Games People Play. A real inspired piece of playing:

Yes! Have enjoyed reading about your 80's Ibanez basses... speaking of righties - I bought a late 2000's ATK305 righty at one point to eventually gut, and use the parts to make a lefty ATK305... thankfully I never had to do that.. but I've got to say, the electronics in the righty sound very nice- a bit more rounded than my '86 ATK... every once in a while, a right handed bass player from the "mainland" will need a bass, so I loan them this one... they've never heard of it in most cases, and really like the sound... maybe I should swap out the electronics into my classic ATK305L one day.....Jeroen wrote:Same!
