Acoustic Fretless Strings....

Post by fivebass52 »

Hey Guys - I have an inexpensive 5-string fretless bass that I've had for a couple of years now, and would like to put a string set on it that has low tension, so as not to pull too hard on the neck, or bow the top (had that happen to another bass)... of course flats would be preferred... what sayest y'all? :)

Chrome's on both my acoustics. Lightest gauge I can find. Love 'em

Thomastik Infeld Jazz flats are also known for their light string tension. Might be worth a go.

Thanks Tim and Jeroen... looked both string sets up...

the Daddarios are affordable at $27.99-to-$42.99, and have a tension range of 19-to-29lbs...

the Thomastick Infelds are Expensive at $108.99 (at Musician's Friend), and have a tension range from 34-to-37lbs... So far the Daddario's are in the lead!

I got my last three sets from Amazon Global Store UK for about $50. (So obviously I like these strings a lot as well.) No issues:

Indeed! I've bought three sets of strings from FN already.
