Ultimate Bass comparison video

Post by AHNC »

Hyperbole aside this is a really cool chance hear some really great sounding basses played by a great player one right after another. The Hofner 500/1 relic has that sound. I have owned a few and never found one that had that tone.

This video is great and as an engineer the only wild card is the strings. I assume they are all different kinds of strings, assume some strings are new, some are weeks or months old.

Knowing there is no way to put all new strings on all those bases, I consider this a great video however footnote that stings could alter the sound.

Thanks for sharing this.

Just reaffirms my belief that there are so many great basses out there - they all sounded great to my ears.

Also reminds me that I'll probably never play like Scott. If I did, I'd probably gravitate more towards those high-end J-style basses.
