Does anyone think this will affect the 2018 lefty bass availability? Gibson has still not produced all the lefty bass models they said they were going to in 2018. I wonder if this will mess up them making them altogether?

What else did they promised?
I thought only the SG and the T-bird where on the list.

Knew this was coming...... Sooo, does this mean the old lefty stock will be worth more money or hold it's value. My assumption is they will be producing even less lefty basses if any. Hold onto your Gibson's?

They didn't release every finish in those basses. They did the Thunderbird in red but not sunburst yet and I don't believe black either.

Speculation will likely bump their prices in the short term, it'll depend on what Gibson looks like on the other side of this shake up.

Interesting, thanks guys. I guess sunburst is all that's left then.

Why does this statement in lieu of the timing remind me of this exchange from Spinal Tap:

Derek Smalls: "I pose a practical question at this point. Are we gonna do Stonehenge tomorrow night?"
David St. Hubbins: "No, we're not gonna do f#@%ing Stonehenge!"

In the topsy-turvy world of heavy rock, having a good solid piece of wood in your hand is often useful...

My guess is that the new ownership will 'restructure', i.e. downsize, and let go a buttload of staff. What that means for us lefty's in terms of product availability is anyone's guess. if there's a $$ to be made, new ownership will likely produce lefty bass product.

Will they drop prices? Maybe in the short term to move inventory and produce cash flow. But I certainly don't see them fulfilling a lot new orders until they figure out their strategy. I guess what I'm trying to say is everything is on hold for the moment :-)

it would probably help if they didn't try to produce 100 different varieties of SGs and Les Pauls this time around.

I bought a sunburst recently. Ordered it in december 2017. A rather long wait.

Henry in the news today …
https://www.msn.com/en-us/money/compani ... spartanntp

An interesting idea, but Gibson has a lot of work left to do. Interesting to see that sales last year were up, but I doubt it was because of volume.

I think that the thing to remember here is, just how much does Henry actually speak for the new Gibson! After all, he is simply a consultant now and that
the reason Gibson is in this boat in the first place is his doing. Do you really hand the keys to your new car to the guy who crashed and burned your last one?
While reading this, I was also thinking that Ukulele sales are good, but the market has cooled considerably from just a couple of
years ago. The trend is showing a decline in sales currently and he is looking to jump on now! They might be better off looking into extended range guitars.

Reading Glass Door reports about the morale of Gibson employees might get interesting as Henry's influence is phased out.
