New Schecter bass model for 2016: dUg Pinnick signature

Post by tim »

A semi-hollow with a P pickup. Only one knob, yet still somehow requires a battery. Sounds fun.

And you have to wear it down around your knees. (Works best with insanely long arms.) :)

I CAN'T for the life of me understand how these guys are not bigger than they are. They are GREAT musicians and their vocals are
on par with The Beatles, CSN&Y, and even BIG, Name acts know and respect them.
And yet, EVERYONE knows Miley

Is there NO justice??????

(BTW: I have no affiliation with King's X.....just a disgruntled fan)

Anyone know the price for this model????

$950 if you get it right from Schecter. Haven't seen it pop up anywhere else yet.

Add me to the list of King's X fans. :)

Years ago, Hamer made left handed 12 string Chaparral basses in extremely limited quantities, which I immediately associate with Doug. I've seen maybe two in my lifetime, and one of them I told Arni about, who eventually bought it (though has since sold his):

I'm content with my Schecter Baron which the dUg bass is derived from.

Fast forward a couple years and I did get a Schecter dUg signature bass. I LOVE IT!

It's short/non horn and long 35" scale neck do make it neck heavy but aside from that, it's a shockingly good bass in a bunch of ways. I really like the string tension and definition of the 35" scale 4 string. The neck it very thin, like an extremely comfortable jazz in profile.
It's a featherweight. The semi hollow body is very light, the bass weighs less than 7.5lbs, so despite it having some neck dive, with the right strap it's very comfortable to play for long sets.

I love the dead simple single volume knob and no other controls, and the pickup in it sounds very good. It has a really authoritative tone like a good active bass without being sizzly or sterile.

I'll eventually swap to my preferred brand/gauge of strings but right out of the box it played well, had a good set up and nice action.

Anyone wanting a lightweight bass with great p tone should take a look at this bass. I got mine on sale at zzounds so it was a good deal as well. Really for the price it's very well made.

*Also it comes in one finish only, the rarely seen on a lefty bass finish color of black, so it's nice too to get it in a really uncommon finish color for a lefty bass.
But at least with this one, it's the same finish for righty bassists too.
