Electra MPC Modules

Post by Billw97 »

Hi All!

This is a long shot but I figured it would not hurt to ask. Do any of you have and might wish to part with any of the 70's Electra MPC modules? Here is a picture barrowed from an Ebay auction for the instrument and modules.
With a lot of help from a Good Friend, I now own an Electra X610......left handed model. As to date, this is the only X610 that I have ever seen, left handed. Anyway, I am looking for the modules and they are as Hen's teeth. There is an Overdrive module on Reverb.com, but I am looking for a Phase shifter or a flange.

Just in case you want to know what an X610 looks like. Very 70's!

All sorts of great sounds even without the modules. In position three, sounds very much like a Rickenbacker.

Killer looking bass. With the magnesium U channel, you better not shred so hard that you make a spark, or else that neck will burn like the 4th July :).... on a side note, is that Beefcake The Mighty hiding behind the amp ?

That is Beefcake. It's our practice room at my fiend and guitarist place. He came to one of the NAMM shows and got a lot of autographs for the room.

How did I miss this thread? Wow, fantastic find, Bill. I've been obsessed with these basses since seeing Chris Squire using one in the Tempus Fugit video. Had no idea they were made left handed.

I'll keep my eye out for the modules. I have seen them pop up on ebay from time to time.

Thanks Peter! Paulo gets the credit for finding this one though.
I too have never seen one before in a left handed version and thought that they were never made. This bass does not have the fore arm contour though. The tuners are very hard to turn and the bridge was lifting. The bridge I did flatten on a press, very carefully and repaired the saddles. I drilled two holes on the back as those found on late 70's-early 80's Rickenbackers and installed two more screws. The tuners, I made a set of replacements to match the shape and hole pattern. These are getting plated as I write this! With the bridge back in place, the thing sounds amazing!
Now, if I could just find a left handed Gibson Victory bass, I would be a happy camper!
