Hey there, I snagged a 1975 Fender Jazz recently. I'm curious as to whether it's common to find lefty Fender basses of this era without patent numbers on the headstock. Mine just has the Fender logo (period correct as far as I can tell) but no trace of the patent numbers underneath. Anyone know?

UPDATE: Added pictures of the headstock and neck heel. Mine's also a four-bolt with neck heel truss rod adjustment. Also noticed something else strange... the extra holes for attaching the neck to the body. Any idea what's up with that?

Pics??

Its not common but they are out there. I have a 73 P bass with only the Fender logo, no patent numbers. They cut the decals so during those years they were a little sloppy and stoned and might have just accidentally cut off the decal.

All humor aside, there are some out there. I think 2 board members including myself have this.

Pics please and good deal!

This is a picture of my '75 Jazz bass. You can see that it too does not have the patent numbers on the headstock. This is an early '75 with the four hole neck plate and truss adjustment at the body.

Also a picture of the neck pocket. From what I've read it's quite difficult to tell whether a body is authentic. Of course potentiometer date codes and pickup date codes would help, but all the hardware on the body was replaced. Anything else I should check?
