I wasn't sure where to post this question, so here it is.

I've got my eye on a MIJ '62RI Precision neck. As much as I love my Fender Am Std P, I'm just not a fan of the modern C profile. (Not the newest 2017 Am Pro model, but the previous Am Std circa 2015). It's too flat, IMO, and I think I'd prefer a rounder, vintage C 7-1/2" radius neck.

Does anybody have any experience swapping necks on a MIA Fender for a MIJ? Will it fit/work?

Not directly. But I've put a Warmoth neck on an MIJ Jazz body, and it all lined up fine. And Warmoth necks typically fit American Fenders so there's that.

Should be ok, I've put an MIJ jazz neck on a AM Std body and it worked fine. Neck pockets should be lined up more or less the same.

I think the only thing I had to do was add a small shim for height, it seems like the MIJ bodys are slimmer and the neck pockets are a little more shallow than the US versions.

Honestly the japanese were probably cutting closer tolerances than american factories at that time. So I wouldn't worry.

Thanks guys. I ordered it and they have a return policy, so hopefully it will work out fine. :)

Just an update. I took the plunge and ordered the MIJ '62 P bass neck. It fit my Am Std P perfectly. Bad news is, while it was a beautiful, well made neck, I didn't like the neck profile. I was expecting a chunkier, beefier neck more in line with actual '62 P bass specs, and it was thinner than the Am Std neck, so I returned it.

Well damn. Good to know it was a good fit for future reference though. Sorry it wasn't what you were looking for feel-wise.

Are you looking specifically for a rosewood fretboard?
The 57RI's neck has a maple fretboard but to my experience it feels thicker than the 62RI and the American Standard.
Here's the 57:

Now there's the MIJ 70's RI, I have no idea about this one:

Yeah those maple '57s are like the business end of a baseball bat, but still strangely comfortable.

Thanks, Paulo.

I did see those two necks from Stratosphere, as that's the company I bought the '62 from. I am specifically looking for a rosewood neck. I am curious about that '70 neck, but they're not too specific in their descriptions of their necks other than indicating the radius.
