jazz blocks and binding neck

I was wondering if anyone here is looking to sell a CIJ blocks and binding neck (rosewood)
Just the neck itself actually, I have tuning keys that i'd drop in (pre-CBS )

Allparts or Warmoth necks work as well actually.

you know that most CIJ key utilize a non Fender USA standard hole, right?

1/2" keys (Fender standard 11/16" BML hole) are too big

3/8" keys (GB7 standard 9/16" hole) are too small


IIRC the CIJ necks utilize roughly a 5/8" hole. every Frankenbass I've assembled with a CIJ neck required that I either use CIJ keys or I plug/re-drill the tuner holes.

there's a guy who posts these as parts on eBay. if I can remember his username I'll post it here for you. he also sell the tuners, and has been my source in the past when I needed them

they don't appear to have anything with blocks. ill have to keep an eye out though. i emailed one japanese seller, but he said he can't sell me just a neck

not sure how you feel about warmoth necks, but i see quite a few with blocks and binding on their showcase page(right handed of couse) so i know they have the means. i, however have never done business with them, so i dont know how they cater to lefties. worth a shot though. good luck!

they appear to make custom necks, blocks and binding, lefty, for a pretty decent price.
I sent them an email, I'll let you guys know what they say (this may be useful for other lefties in the future)

Warmoth is very good, but expensive. If you can't find one in their "Showcase" then the wait can be rather long, I waited almost 3 months for mine.

I wish Warmoth used graphite stiffening bars instead of steel ... that steel adds close to a full pound of unneeded weight compared to the composite bars

on the positive side - those Warmoth necks have the best B&B details I've seen on any neck to date

Keep a look-out at http://www.rondomusic.com/ - at the moment they have only have a 3/4 size neck in the style you want, and other full-size in maple. Look in the Parts/Bodies section....

looks like there's one on ebay....but its $400 US....hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
and i'd have to driill mounting holes in it since it's 70's spec, with 3 bolts.

I have a Warmoth neck - with block inlay and binding - installed in my USA Fender Jazz. It's a 100% improvement. They even painted the headstock for me to match my body. The Fender decal I had to add myself of course. I can attest that the tuner holes needed no modification whatsoever for the Fender tuners to be installed. That might because the original instrument was Fender USA, not Japan or Mexico. I think it has an extra two frets as well.

Here's a tip with Warmoth. Give them a call if you don't see what you want on their site. I waited and waited for a bound/inlaid lefty Jazz neck to appear and finally bit the bullet and called to have them build one for me from scratch (which is more expensive). It turns out they had one laying around that was never put online. So no extra charge aside from the paying for the paintjob on the headstock and installation of the frets. It cost around $350 and took about 3 weeks for delivery.

I can't recommend them enough for any kind of workhorse instrument.....

I found a source to do custom B&B work for me, but it is by no means cheap. my cost for simple block inlays sans binding is roughly $250US plus r/t shipping the guy does incredible inlay work, but I don't see many clients opting for the added cost of B&B anytime soon

this just to confirm the good deal on the W neck if you can find one available

Considering B+B is an $800 list price upgrade on a Lakland neck that's a bargain Rod.
