New Eastwood Flying V Bass
Available left handed in natural. Estimated ship date: October 2017. One of the better looking Eastwood variations, IMO:

Love it!!!
Re: New Eastwood Flying V Bass
Wow, cool. Are Eastwood good quality? I have a Davison which is a complete piece of crap, but it was just so cheap and cheesy I had to have it.
Body is basswood, which is really light, so this could be really light overall, but extremely neck-heavy.

I had one of those Saturn basses for a minute. Yeah, the quality was really good. Played & sounded great!

Re: New Eastwood Flying V Bass
I bought the Eastwood classic not long ago and like it. Hollow bodies always feel cheap to me, and this is no different, but it is clearly built better than most at this price point, sounds very cool and looks great for sure.
Re: New Eastwood Flying V Bass
This Flying V is killing me. I recently ordered the 6-string bass they offered. It's god awful ugly, but that's part of the appeal (at least that's what I'm telling myself). I'm thinking about canceling the other order and applying the deposit to the Flying V instead. The headstock on the 6-string alone is almost convincing me to just make this change! It's so weird and sticks out like a sore thumb/headstock! In contrast, the V looks spectacular!
Here's the 6 string I'm talking about, http://eastwoodcustoms.com/projects/tb- ... 086afca8f1

Re: New Eastwood Flying V Bass
Eastwood's quality can be a mixed bag, as the Chinese made instruments I've owned/played were hit and miss low cost instruments. Their Korean made Airline instruments are excellent, IMO, but also priced higher.
I've had no experience with Eastwood's custom shop, but I've heard nothing but good things about them. I like their concept of pledge funded projects before they manufacture, as it's resulted in some really unique offerings.

Got to say... the body is borderline cool, BUT, that headstock is a whole 'nother matter! Even if it wasn't two-tone it would still look weird, but that paint job...rdavidson wrote:This Flying V is killing me. I recently ordered the 6-string bass they offered. Re: New Eastwood Flying V Bass
The Eastwood Classic I recently bought is a great bass - good fit-and-finish, great color, very playable... my only comment so far would be the volume knobs feel a bit cheesy, but the three-way switch lets me get a variety of tones without too much fiddling... the 30" scale is nice as well, but it's no problem going back to a 34"... I'm happy with the bass; it's fun to play, and I get great compliments whenever I play it.pjmuck wrote:Eastwood's quality can be a mixed bag, as the Chinese made instruments I've owned/played were hit and miss low cost instruments. I like it. Totally oddball retro. And who else is making affordable 6 string basses when you want that tone and a lefty Fender VI will run you at least $5000? I like their Sidejack model too.

But that handle looks so functional!rdavidson wrote:Here's the 6 string I'm talking about, http://eastwoodcustoms.com/projects/tb- ... 086afca8f1
Re: New Eastwood Flying V Bass
Man, I'm in the minority it seems, but that bass VI is kick ass looking.

Re: New Eastwood Flying V Bass
Sorry for derailing the thread originally about the Flying V... About the VI, it is "ugly" in that cool vibe retro way, that's what drew me to it. Plus the fact that it's a lefty VI for well under under $1K (all the things pjmuck pointed out). I wish the headstock was different, but I'm thrilled to get an eye-catching VI for $649!!! I've always wanted one to round out my collection of "Beatles basses!"

I find it interesting that it has way more backing than any of their other current builds.rdavidson wrote:Here's the 6 string I'm talking about, http://eastwoodcustoms.com/projects/tb- ... 086afca8f1

Don't blame you, and Congrats! It IS mighty tempting... got a good-paying floor install coming up at the end of the month, so my resolve not to buy might get a bit weaker by June....screambasses wrote:I ordered one. I especially like that it's a 30.5" scale flying veeeeeeeeee.
