77 Musicmaster

Post by paulo »

Got this in pretty nasty condition, looked good from the outside but all of the screws where rusted and looks like someone spilled beer on it and it went under the pickguard and neck plate.
I wanted to polish it up so I went ahead and took the bridge off, pickguard and when I took the neck off 2 screws broke off while in the neck.
I had to put WD30 around them and heated them with the soldering iron and then I was able to remove them with a locking vise grip.
I cleaned the frets and oiled the fretboard and that was the story!
It's nice and clean now!

Regret selling mine a few years ago. I had put a Seymour Duncan Basslines pup in it. Huge improvement and only needed a slight file of the pickguard to get it to fit.

I tried a light gauge set of strings and it was okay, then I tried an used set of flats and to me it sounds much better with the strat pickup.
Maybe down the road I'll replace the PU but for now I'll enjoy the honky tone of the strat pu!

Glad it wasn't anything that couldn't be repaired without costing an arm and a leg.

Nice resurrection! Got to say, that Rosewood fingerboard is beautiful!

Wow, that pearloid looks amazing on it. That choice didn't even occur to me, but it really looks great.

Ya know... the pearloid looks great, but I like the look of the original too... it gives it a sinister look... so, not sure which I prefer... :D
