Was kind of cool to get this promotional email today from Fender aimed specifically at the lefty market. It covers their lefty guitars and basses along with a link to the design-your-own section. I'm not really shopping for anything but it's so rare to get any attention directed at us southpaws from the companies. I wonder if this was just a blanket email to all Fender customers or if I got this because I am tagged as a lefty in their data base.

I got one too.I 'm on the email list and get them regularly. This is the first one dealing solely on left handed guitars that I remember seeing. Be interesting to know whether it was sent in mass or just lefties. Not much to offer but interesting that they made an advertising attempt to target the lefty market at all.

Is there anything notable in this e-mail, or is it just, "hey, you can design your own lefty guitar or bass on our website"?

I don't keep careful track of every model and configuration but I don't see anything remarkable. They often make changes to the available options in the design-your-own section anyway. What's "new" is just that the advertisement is specifically about the lefty models and options and also the hard cases.

This seems to work. They might take it down eventually.

If only they'd build the new American Professional Jazzmaster as a lefty... Preferably Mystic Seafoam with a maple fingerboard Image

Is the white blonde truly a new color for us?

I really do not need another P bass (in fact I should be selling some), but the new white finish they come in is dead sexy.

Ironically I really like the "Antique Olive" color that they do not offer in left handed :x

You can't get a 5 string or a maple fingerboard, the colors are limited, no P-Basses with Jazz bridge pickups, no Jazzes with P-pickups, no V-Mod pickups in the "BYO" lineup, no actives, no relics and no top quality models between about $500 and $1300. Beyond that, they've got a great selection for the lefty bassist.

Reminds me of Henry Ford's famous quote... "you can have any color you want, as long as it's black"...

With all these new CITES regulations, I suspect Fender will have to offer maple necks soon...or just retire lefties for another 20 years again.
