Tim's-closet-door-won't-close sale!

Post by tim »

I've decided to right-size my collection a bit. It's been a ton of fun experimenting with gear over the past couple years, but I've settled on my favorites and have neither the room to store nor the time to play the rest. It's time to lighten the load.

Sire v7 tobacco alder. $350 shipped con US. These are worth every bit of their reputation. I bought this new through Thomann and got a Chinese model; I think all the ones purchased through the Sire-USA website were made in Indonesia. It was absolutely perfect when it arrived (and almost in tune!) and only left my apartment once, but I managed to put a small nick in the finish behind the bridge while changing strings. Comes with the stock D'Addarios, which only have a few hours playing time on them. It did not arrive with a gig bag, but I'm including a totally decent Phitz case.

Hohner B2B (P/J). $350 shipped con-US. It's a great little bass and hard to find. I bought it used from NJ Guitar and Bass. I would say it is in "very good" condition. Ships with a soft case that is in "fair-to-good" condition. It's wearing brand new La Bella flats, and I'm including the round wounds it came with as well.

Squire P-bass Special. $75 plus actual shipping. A nice little bass. Straight neck, nice pickups, plays well. In "fair-to-good" condition, but only because it's been beat up a little on the outside and tinkered with on the inside. Still 100% playable. I used this bass to try out a bunch of different pickups until I found what I liked. Currently wearing Chromes, but let me know what you like and there's a fair chance I have a set I can thrown on there (I have some black nylons, Cobalts in round and flat, La Bellas, etc.) Ships with the original knobs, but the dice are so much fun that I left them on. Ships with an inexpensive but functional gig bag.

$350 is a sweet deal for that Hohner.

It's a slight premium over what I paid, depending on the cost to ship. But in the two years since I bought I've only seen one other for sale, and it was over $600.

Of the lot it will be the hardest to part with. But realistically i'm never going to play it when my SB-1 is just so goddamn perfect.

What is a "grout"?

Oh, the whole video has really bad captioning. It is quite amusing.

..."which is to get instruments to the hands the kids that were really high quality"... Uh, the kids or the bass? :D

I'm just amused by the names of the products Tim is selling.

Ha! The basses have names, too. Apikalia, PJ Harvey, and Princess Vespa. 8-)

Speaking of, Polly Jean still needs a new home! Can't beat the price. A seller is asking for $800 for one on eBay now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/351972601425
