Done it again.  More new basses.

The Ibanez SR305EBL-WK is already several weeks in my possession, a lot of bass for very little money.
The MusicMan Stingray 5 was delivered today. While I was looking for something else I stumbled onto it new for a price I just could not resist. A Stingray 5 was on my "if ever" wish-list for a long time but normally the price is in a range I would never ever spend on a bass.

R.I.P. Harley Benton Kahuna Bass
Image

Two days ago I thought it would be a nice idea to change the strings, what a disillusion, been trying for almost two hours but whatever I did I could not get the A and D strings on in a proper way.
If things are working this hard against me either I or it will break, it lost, I got so fed up I threw it at floor, that will teach it to irritate me!

This is what's left over, firewood...

And what's really left over, spare parts and a set of unused strings.

Yup. Apparently not as simple as it seems.

Changed the strings before on this bass without a hitch but these new ones were not cooperating.

The build quality is actually very good, braces in the right places, the body plywood looks good on the inside as well, maybe the plywood is a bit thin but this helps keeping the weight down.

The main problem for this crash were the strings, they were a tad too thick for the tuners and after fighting with them for two hours I just lost my temper.

Calling this chipping is a bit of a exaggeration.
