It's a free market I guess. How do these sound? I am not a fan of short scale basses, it just messes me up and I am messed up enough already with my playing ;)

I was surprised it didn't bring more. The original lefty case must be pretty rare!

Me too... oh well... that's the thing with the lefty market. If no one is interested at the time of sale, you can find a decent deal (I think that's what happened here) or perhaps the bass doesn't even sell... but if 2-3 lefties are on the lookout--watch out!--the price can skyrocket!

Methinks that bass isn't going to sell for $2100.

You're probably right. He should be able to make a profit on the $1200 he spent, however.

Hmmm... not sure about that.

These basses come up pretty regularly. They're not incredibly high in demand and you never really see pictures of them in use out in the wild. Not even righties.

They're pretty niche, since they were originally produced as a "student level" beginner's instrument. And as much as I would love to have another killer vintage Fender, I would never buy one.

I think people see them and are like, "Ooooh, cool! It's a vintage short-scale Fender!" They buy them, never really play them that much and then they sell them.

Once this guy pays the 6-7% payment/selling fees and then covers shipping, he'll probably come close to breaking even by the time he sells it.

Just a hunch, but I'd bet a dollar on it.

Yep. It seems like a year or two ago, plenty of people around here were looking for them, and had been for absolutely ages, but thanks to our good old Southpaw Spotted, most of them have finally connected with one.

I have been dreaming of a lightweight shortscale to alleviate some shoulder problems I have while gigging, but I was forced to decide that, while I've dreamed of a vintage MM for a long time, it just doesn't make financial sense in favor of a cheaper bass.

FWIW, I was just browsing Reverb and noticed that the price has dropped already... $1975 or "Make an Offer".

Good point. I'm not up on all the fees that are charged on these sites. Not surprising that the price has come down. It will be interesting to watch. It's hard to tell what things really sell for on these sites. Never know what is the actual final deal price.
